Look What Arrived in the Mail

Last week I gave you a sneak peak of the Angel Dear Spring 2011 line, which was really just an excuse to gush about my beautiful and talented daughter. Hey, I am her mom and that is my job – right? Well, the actual printed catalog arrived in the mail this week so here I am, once again – gushing with pride.

There are a few things about these pictures that really make me happy.

Ivey is incredibly expressive and has the ability to look different in each shot. I am truly impressed and wished I had the ability to do that with such ease.

But most importantly she really seemed to enjoy it. Which I have to admit is the most important thing.

Ivey Maudell, My Little Model

A few months ago Ivey participated in a photo shoot for the Bay Area based company, Angel Dear. I received copies of the pictures today so I thought I’d show off my little model as well as Angel Dear’s upcoming spring 2011 line.

Also – I would like to take this opportunity to thank our AMAZING nanny who graciously escorted Ivey to the photo shoot while I was at work. Knowing Ivey isn’t missing out on any opportunities because I have a career helps ease the mommy guilt (a bit).

Toddler Crack

Ivey was such a good eater before she got hooked on toddler crack. Now all she wants to eat are these cheesy crackers shaped like animals. Any ideas on how I could be this little girl to happily eat vegetables again?

Ivey’s First Tooth

Just when we were going to start calling her Toothless Tirman, Ivey delivered not only one but TWO teeth. Reminding me once again that it is always better to under promise and over deliver.

Teething hasn’t put my dear little Ivey in the best of moods. She does however want to cuddle more than usual but everything else seems to just piss her off. Seriously, it was close to impossible to get her to crack a smile and show off her teeth.

After resorting to fart noises, funny voices, singing, playing music and dancing I was finally able to get a picture of Ivey’s pearly whites. Personally I think it was my dancing that did the trick.

Simple Operating Instructions for First Time Urban Parents

Step 1: Learn to identify when the baby’s batteries need to be recharged – ideally prior to meltdown. Resist the temptation to laugh (muwhahaha) once a meltdown strikes although not always easy, laughing only seems to further frustrate the small child.

Step 2: Install binky and satin blanket. Tip toe out of the closet you are using for a nursery and pray an ambulance doesn’t barrel down the street.

Step 3: Once the baby is done charging, let her power back on at her own speed. Be sure to keep the binky installed until you are ready to remove the baby from the charger.

Step 4: Take the baby out to a nice restaurant, ideally some place that serves gourmet mac and cheese. Home worked well for us on this occasion.

Disclaimer: Since each model is unique these instructions are only meant to provide humor. Truthfully, you might want to ignore these instructions altogether since the author can’t remember the last time she slept through the night and probably shouldn’t be giving advice to anyone.
