Maternity Leave – Day 19

194.8 pounds and 11 days until my due date.

I woke up at 7:30am well rested and without prompting. It appeared that the animals had been fed so I moved on to my normal morning routine (swiffering, straightening and showering). I attempted to find something cute to wear, which had recently become much harder now that I had outgrown most (if not all) my maternity wear.

I was originally supposed to meet a co-worker for lunch however when I arrived at the office she unfortunately had to cancel. After visiting with a few other people, and receiving yet another gracious baby gift, I headed home where I spent the rest of the day reading baby books, playing on the computer and taking a nap.

I honestly miss work or atleast the excitement of it all.

Maternity Leave – Day 18

195 pounds and 12 days until my due date.

I woke up around 5am (too early for a Sunday) after hearing our guests leave without trying to disturb us. I left my husband in bed and proceeded to clean the house of any little boy finger prints/crumbs that were created in the last 36 hours. Once completed, I didn’t feel satisfied the way I normally do when everything is perfectly in place; instead the house felt lonely and sadly quiet.

Maternity Leave – Day 17

194 pounds and 13 days until my due date.

I woke up at 5:30am excited to start the day, however, I decided to stay in bed and read since our guests were not yet awake. I pulled my hubby out of bed around 7am when our guest starting to stir. We turned on the Wii Fit for the boys (age 4 and 6), and proceeded to make breakfast.

I spent a good about of time with my girlfriend showing her the nursery and the home improvements we had made to prepare for the baby. She offered a few additional tips but didn’t point out any major flaws in my overall preparation which provided me some relief. As crazy as it may sound, I am still waiting for Child Protective Services (or some other similar secret government agency) to show up and announce that they are calling my bluff.

Maternity Leave – Day 16

193 pounds (I blame last night’s dinner) and 14 days until my due date.

I woke up at 7:20 after having ignored my alarm for 20 minutes. I hadn’t slept that well and it appeared the dog didn’t either, since I had to physically remove her from the bed in order to make it.

After getting ready, I headed to Danville (which my husband kindly refers to as Kansas) for a much needed hair cut and lunch with my mom.

It was a typical yet pleasant day in Danville. The kind of day, which always leaves me thinking about selling our loft the city, in exchange, for a home in the burbs. However, those thoughts always seem to come to a screeching halt when I start to consider the 3-hour daily commute that would involve.

In other news: Friends from San Diego are coming to visit this weekend. I am excited to see them and spend time with their two boys.

Maternity Leave – Day 15

191 pounds and 15 days until my due date.

I woke up at 7:00am to find my husband standing over me, staring at the clock, with his hands gently placed upon my stomach. My first instinct was to slap him away and pull the covers over my head until I realized he was only trying to help me by checking my kick count. Which, by the way, my OBGYN had scolded me the day prior for not regularly monitoring. I understand the importance of this task, however, I never can seem to stay focused and sit still for up to two hours, holding my belly, counting my daughter’s movements. Plus the little bugger seems to move the most in the middle of the night when all I want to do is sleep.

After my husband was satisfied with the kick count I got out of bed and kissed him goodbye. I completed my normal morning routine and spent the rest of the day reading, playing on the computer and putting around the house.

In the evening, we met up with several family members for dinner at a local steak house. Unfortunately, the evening took a turn for the worst when, during normal conversation, it was determined that the only person in attendance that weighed more than me was my 6’4″ husband.
