The Perfect Organic Facial Oil for Mature Dry Skin

Rose Facial Oil

Inspired by the book Do It Gorgeously, by Sophie Uliano; I have been making and using my own night time facial oil for over a year.

Since this this organic facial oil is packed full of antioxidants and active ingredients it works wonders on my skin.

How to use: After you have cleansed and toned; shake and apply to your face. Store in a in a cool place out of direct sunlight. This product has a shelf life of one year.

Ingredients: Organic Avocado Oil, Organic Sweet Almond Oil, Organic Rosehip Seed Oil, Rose Absolute Essential Oil, Organic Benzoin Resin Essential Oil, Frankincense Essential Oil, Galbanum Essential Oil, Pomegranate Seed Oil, Alpha-D-Tocopherol, Lycopene, Tocotrienols, Astaxanthin, Lutein, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Ascorbyl Palmitate.

I have been making this product in small batches for myself and as gifts however I have been asked by a few people if I would consider selling it.

What do you think? Should whip up some proper packaging and sell it on Etsy or would you rather I just post the recipe for you to make and customize at home?

Dolphin Organics, Only and Always Natural

Dolphin-Baby-Organics_1

Many people are surprised to find out that although a label says “natural and organic” what it may really mean is “contains natural and organic ingredients along with a bunch of other crap”.

As a mom, I have often been frustrated by brands that CLAIM to be natural and organic. This is one of the reasons why I blog about organic beauty. I want to be able to celebrate companies that are actually making real organic and natural products with quality ingredients.

Dolphin Organics is one of these companies.

While at Blogher11 I had the pleasure of meeting the founders of Dolphin Organics. I fell in love with their story and bonded over our mutual understanding that what we put on our body is just as important as what we put in our body.

I was eager to take their products for a test spin – they kindly provided me with a few samples and an adorable onesize for Linden.

Here are the top ten things I like about Dolphin Organics:

  • The labels are straightforward, simple and easy to read so I know exactly what is in them!
  • Instead of being filled with water the first ingredient is ALOE. This provides a more concentrated and stable product.
  • The packaging is made with Post Consumer Recycled material.
  • The products are never tested on animals.
  • The shampoo and body wash actual has a nice lather which is often hard to find in a natural product.
  • The products are tear-free so it doesn’t bug our babies eyes.
  • The products are truly unscented.
  • The products are hypoallergenic.
  • The conditioner does a great job of detangling hair and doesn’t weigh down beautiful curls.
  • Great price point compared to other organic and natural products.

Organic Makeup for Moms as Easy as 1,2,3

Lately I honestly don’t know what is more impossible, getting beauty sleep or finding time to put on makeup. Without either I look like a walking zombie. To combat this I have been following a very simple three product in three minutes morning routine that leaves me feeling moisturized, protected and presentable.

  1. Prickly Pear Antioxidant Sunscreen with Tint from Sweet P’s Organic Skincare - an awesome 4 in 1 beauty product (moisturizer, tint, sunscreen and antioxidant). Feels great on your skin and contains high amounts of vitamin A and C, magnesium, calcium, and potassium.
  2. Eye Brightener from Terra Firma Cosmetics – tightens, brightens, and smooths the skin around your eyes.
  3. Shimmery Cocoa Berry Lip & Cheek Tint from 100% Pure – Contains anti-aging vitamins and antioxidants and was designed to be used as a cream blush and a lip tint.

Antioxidant Sunscreen with Tint Ingredients: Prickly Pear Juice, Organic Jojoba Oil, Vegetable Stearin, E-wax, zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, om-cinnamate, ecocert preservative, oxide and mica organic minerals

Eye Brightener Ingredients: Water, Certified Organic Aloe Vera Gel, Carbomer, Pullulan (from natural starch), Palm Christi Oil, Boron Nitride, Mica, Lauryl-Lisine Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol

Shimmery Cocoa Berry Lip & Cheek Tint Ingredients: Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Honey Beeswax, Grapeseed Oil, Vitamin E (a-tocopherol), Vitamin C (ascorbyl palmitate), Pigments of Cranberry, Pomegranate, Blackberry, Raspberry, Cabernet Grape, Plum, Strawberry, Cherry, Peach, Apricot, Blueberry, Cocoa Bean, Carrot and Tomato, Strawberry Extract, Mica

Look who is wearing mommy's lipstick

At least with these ingredients I don’t have to worry about Ivey playing makeup.

Ivey Still Likes Ella’s Kitchen

Ivey might no longer need to eat baby food but that doesn’t seem to stop her from eating her favorite items from Ella’s Kitchen.

For example, last night while we were hanging out with our neighbors, one of the kids happened to leave their sweet potatoes, pumpkin, apple, blueberries briefly unattended – next thing I knew Ivey was helping herself to it (see picture above).

Recently they added a few new favors to their assortment and they were kind enough to send us samples of the following:

There is just something about the quality of the ingredients and the convenience of the packaging that makes Ella’s Kitchen something both Ivey and I can agree on. They taste so great that I find myself eating them as well. They are the perfect dose of healthy organic fruits and veggies! The packaging is perfect for when you running out the door plus they are MUCH better for you than a nasty V8.

Judith’s Herbals and her Beautiful Blue Bottles

On a recent trip to Bolinas I stopped into Judith’s Herbals and purchased the following products:

  • Jojoba Hair Conditioning Oil
  • Organic Avocado Oil
  • Morningdew Moisturizer
  • Golden Seal & Myrrh Mouthwash

These products are great but what I fell in love with was the packaging. I am a total sucker for beautiful blue glass bottles and old school labels. Not only does colored glass block UV rays, which helps increase the product’s shelf life, but they can be redeemed at Judith’s when you are done with them. Organic ingredients, Glass containers and bottle deposits might seem right out of the 1920′s but these three things makes Judith’s Herbals an amazing eco-friendly find, even more so if you are willing to ride your bike from San Francisco to buy them.
