Weight Loss Update #4

The Goal and Overall Plan:

  • My goal weight is 135 pounds
  • My plan is to lose 2 pounds per week
  • My daily calorie budget is 1,493 calories

This Week’s Results…

With one pilates class, two personal training sessions and roughly 16 miles logged I lost 0 pounds this week (for a grand total of 8 pounds over four weeks).

Unfortunately, I did not pay close enough attention to my daily caloric intake and as a result I didn’t shed a single pound. For some reason, I felt I deserved ice cream at Bi-rite and dessert at Cafe Gratitude as a way of rewarding myself for all my hard work. Looking back, this sounds idiotic but as we all know hindsight is 20/20. On a more positive note, I am happy to report that I have lost inches.  My once tight maternity jeans are now falling off my derriere and It feels FABULOUS, to once again, fit into jeans that actually button instead of holding themselves up via a stretchy belly band.

What I did:

  • Walk/jog with the stroller 4 days for a total of 16.16 miles
  • Completed two personal training sessions at Fit Personal Fitness Studio (Monday and Wednesday)
  • Attended Postnatal Pilates on Friday
  • Kept my caloric intake to roughly 2000 calories a day

Next Week’s Plan:

  • Walk/jog with the stroller a minimum of two miles a day 5 days a week
  • Complete one personal training sessions at Fit Personal Fitness Studio
  • Attend Mom and Baby Yoga Class on Wednesday
  • Keep my caloric intake to roughly 1500 calories a day (using Loseit to track this)
  • At the end of the week, adjust the overall plan (as needed) in order to reach the goal.

Bring Your Baby to the Movies

I thought my movie theater days were on hold due to the recent birth of my daughter however I was pleasantly surprised to discover the FREE Monthly Mom and Baby Movie at the Presidio Theater on Chestnut Street.

For years now Jill Russo and Lorianne Daluz have been sponsoring the Monthly Mom and Baby Movie and as a result admission is free for Moms, kids and their friends.

At first I was a little skeptical; what was the catch, why was the movie free? How on earth could I watch a movie with a newborn? What if she cried? What if I needed to breastfeed or change her diaper?

When I arrived at the theater I found myself standing outside making small talk amongst a sea of moms, babies, strollers, and the occasional dad. We parked our strollers in the lobby and proceeded to carry our babies (and their gear) up the stairs while politely maneuvering to secure the best possible seats. Jill then introduced herself and gave the softest 30 second sales pitch I have ever heard. The lights were dimmed (only slightly) and the movie started. Throughout the movie babies would cry, mothers fed, diapers were changed, and babies were burped and bounced.

I can only assume that anyone without a child would be annoyed by the noise however I found it heart touching and personally I was thrilled to be in a theater watching a newly released movie.

Check out www.jillrusso.com on the Tuesday prior to Thursday showing for specific movie information.

Who:
Moms, babies, kids, friends
What:

Where: Presidio Theater on Chestnut Street in San Francisco

Additional Tip: Walk or take public transportation (if possible) and consider sitting down and having lunch at Pluto’s prior to the movie, the salads are scrumptious!

Weight Loss Update #3

The Goal and Overall Plan:

  • My goal weight is 135 pounds
  • My plan is to lose 2 pounds per week
  • My daily calorie budget is 1,493 calories

This Week’s Results…

With a daily budget of 1500 calories, one yoga class, two personal training sessions and roughly 17 miles logged I was able to lose 2.5 pounds this week (for a grand total of 8 pounds so far). I am honestly surprised that I lost weight this week. My Aunt Flow was visiting for the first time since getting pregnant and I felt fat as a result.  I have never been able to lose weight this quickly, which leads me to believe that my current weight loss is a direct result of breastfeeding.

What I did:

  • Walk/jog with the stroller 5 days for a total of 16.93 miles
  • Completed two personal training sessions at Fit Personal Fitness Studio (Tuesday and Thursday)
  • Attended Mom and Baby Yoga Class on Wednesday
  • Kept my caloric intake to roughly 1500 calories a day (except for Tuesday when I consumed a total of 2000 calories due to PMS)

Next Week’s Plan:

  • Walk/jog with the stroller a minimum of two miles a day 5 days a week
  • Complete two personal training sessions at Fit Personal Fitness Studio
  • Attend Mom and Baby Yoga Class on Wednesday
  • Attend Postnatal Pilates on Friday
  • Keep my caloric intake to roughly 1500 calories a day (I am using Loseit to track this)
  • At the end of the week, adjust the overall plan (as needed) in order to reach the goal.

Weight Loss Update #2

The Goal and Overall Plan:

  • My goal weight is 135 pounds
  • My plan is to lose 2 pounds per week
  • My daily calorie budget is 1,493 calories

The Plan For This Past Week Was:

  • Walk/jog with the stroller a minimum of two miles a day 7 days a week
  • Complete one personal training session at Fit Personal Fitness Studio
  • Attend Mom and Baby Yoga Class on Wednesday
  • Attend Postnatal Pilates on Friday
  • Keep my caloric intake to roughly 1500 calories a day
  • At the end of the week, adjust the overall plan (as needed) in order to reach the goal.

What I Actually Did:

  • Walk/jog with the stroller 5 days for a total of 15.97 miles
  • Completed three personal training sessions at Fit Personal Fitness Studio (Monday, Thursday and Saturday)
  • Attended Mom and Baby Yoga Class on Wednesday
  • Kept my caloric intake to roughly 1500 calories a day (I use Loseit to keep track of this)

This Week’s Results…

I lost 3 pounds this week
With a daily budget of 1500 calories, one yoga class, three personal training sessions and roughly 16 miles logged I was able to lose 3 pounds this week (for a grand total of 5.5 pounds). Although I did not follow everything in my original plan I did exceed my goal of losing 2 pounds this week. My muscles feel a little sore and I am not recovering as fast as I did pre-baby. This lag in recovering is more than likely due to lack of sleep.

I am so proud of myself that I think I am gonna go out to dinner to celebrate. Chances are, I will blow my 1500 calorie limit prior to calling it a night. What the hell, maybe a few extra calories will help me recover from today’s workout.

  • Keep my caloric intake to roughly 1500 calories a day
  • At the end of the week, adjust the overall plan (as needed) in order to reach the goal.

Weight Loss Update #1

The Plan For This Past Week Was:

  • Walk/jog with the stroller a minimum of two miles a day 7 days a week
  • Attend Mom and Baby Yoga Class on Wednesdays
  • Attend Postnatal Pilates on Fridays
  • Reduce my caloric intake
  • Adjust plan at the end of every week (as needed) in order to reach the goal.

This Week’s Results…

I lost 2.5 pounds this week.

With a daily budget of 1500 calories, one pilates class, and roughly 20 miles logged I was able to lose 2.5 pounds this week. I met all my goals except for one since we were unable to attend yoga class on Wednesday due to a freak flooding incident. Yes, it really did happen and if you don’t believe me call the Valencia Yoga Tree and ask them yourself. All and all, I am rather proud of myself (if you can’t tell).

A bit about Nike+. I am presently grumpy with Nike for the following reasons:

  • This week their widget (a.k.a. Flaunt your Mini) and Twitter integration was buggy and several of my workouts did not post.
  • Although the product experience on the iPhone is intuitive, the overall usability of nikeplus.com is not. I am hoping it will improve soon.
  • Lastly, I experienced a sensor malfunction (all right, it was user error) and 3 miles were not recorded. Truth be told, even though this isn’t Nike’s fault I need someone to blame.

Next Week’s Plan:

  • Walk/jog with the stroller a minimum of two miles a day 7 days a week
  • Complete one personal training session at Fit Personal Fitness Studio
  • Attend Mom and Baby Yoga Class on Wednesdays
  • Attend Postnatal Pilates on Fridays
  • Keep my caloric intake to roughly 1500 calories a day
  • At the end of the week, adjust the overall plan (as needed) in order to reach the goal.
