Ivey Maudell is Twenty Four Months Old

Ivey-Maudell-twenty-four-months-old-1

Ivey Maudell turned twenty four months old today. I can’t believe how fast the time has flown by. To ensure I remember all these special moments I have taken a “birthday” picture every month for the past 24 months as well as charted her developments.

Summary of Ivey’s development this past month:

  • Is house trained. Meaning, she successfully uses the potty whenever she is awake and at home. When we leave the house for more than two hours successful toilet usage declines dramatically. Accidents happen right?
  • Still refuses to sit still for more than a few seconds which makes capturing these photos harder than before.
  • Continues to speak short sentences in both English and Spanish.
  • Likes to sing several songs including ABC’s, La Araña Pequeñita and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
  • Likes to pick out what jewelry she wants to wear on a daily basis as demonstrated in this month’s photos.
  • Is about to start playing on her first soccer team.
  • Had her first dental check up this month and her teeth look great.
  • Weighs 23 pounds and is 33 inches tall.
  • Has successfully given up the binky!!!

The Outtakes:

We were having a hard time getting Ivey to crack a smile for this month’s picture. However that all changed once we started to sing our ABC’s.

Once the singing started so did the rockin’ of the chair.

She spent a good 30 minutes picking out what jewelry she was going to wear for this photo session. Is this a stage or is she just a diva?

Lessons Learned:
Doing this series was an AMAZING experience, one which I highly recommend to any parent. These past 24 months have passed very quickly and I am really grateful that I took the time to do this. As far as lessons learned… When I started this series I was using foam bath numbers to represent her age. However by 14 months it became IMPOSSIBLE to get Ivey to hold these numbers and sit still long enough for me to snap a photo. I highly suggest numbers that are permanently attached to their clothing. I am presently using these ones that I purchased from etsy.

Ivey Maudell sings her ABC’s (in English)

Although she experienced a little stage fright during the filming of this video (or maybe she was distracted by the food) Ivey is now singing her ABC’s in English. I am curious to see how long it will take until she can sing them in Spanish as well?

I also find it interesting that her English and Spanish skills seem to both be progressing differently. Although she can only presently sing her ABC’s in English, there are several words and sayings that she only appears to know in Spanish.
