Ivey Maudell is Nine Months Old

Ivey Maudell turned nine months old today. I can’t believe how fast time is flying. To ensure I remember all these special moments I will be taking a “birthday” picture every month for her first 24 months as well as charting her developments.

Summary of Ivey’s development this past month:

  • Has officially started to pull herself up to standing
  • She will take steps holding onto furniture or your hands
  • She will point and say “Mama, Dada, this, hi and doggie” although she will not always put the right name and object together
  • She will drink from a cup with help
  • She will feed herself finger food
  • She will use her first finger to poke or point
  • She will cooperate with dressing by offering a foot or an arm
  • Still does not have any teeth

In the last month Ivey has eaten the following new organic solids:
Cherries, Rhubarb, Mango, Watermelon, Green Beans, and Happy Baby Organic Puffs.

Strawberry Fields Forever

Ivey looked super sweet dressed head to toe in strawberry clothing. The hat was a gift from Aunt Stephanie and Uncle Mark. The jogging suit was a gift from Auntie Lindsey and Aunt Chriss.

Do you think Ivey is telling me it is time to clean the floor?

Or maybe she will just slide around on her tummy and clean it for me?

Keep Your Baby Hydrated with Nourish

What is Nourish Toddler?

  • 10 oz. bottles of purified spring water
  • Spill-proof sippy-top
  • Nothing can get in or out unless it’s in your toddler’s mouth
  • Made to fit toddler-sized hands
  • BPA free
  • Recyclable plastic bottle
  • Made in the USA

First impression are not always accurate:
When I was first contacted by Nourish last November I honestly thought it was a joke. At the time, Ivey was 100% breastfeed and the idea of bottle water for babies seemed rather ridiculous. My boobs provided everything she needed straight from the “tap” so packing a bottle (let alone a water bottle) just didn’t cross my mind.

It is amazing how your perception can quickly & drastically change:
Since November a few key things have changed which made my daughter less portable than before, especially when traveling.

  • My maternity leave ended which meant I returned to the office full time.
  • My daughter can now consume solids as well as other liquids besides breast milk
  • My daughter has started to drink from a sippy cup and is rather insistent about holding it herself

This is why I use Nourish Toddler:

  • Since Nourish Toddler is a BPA free recyclable, prefilled, spill proof sippy cup, it great for throwing into the diaper bag and forgetting about it. There will come a time when you realize you left the house without bringing anything for the baby to drink and you will quickly free guilt-free when you remember the Nourish that you so brilliantly packed away.
  • As a parent desperately trying to not buy sugary juices Nourish Toddler has saved me more than once.
  • Being that Nourish Toddler is a spill proof sippy cup Ivey actually drinks the water instead of just wearing it.
  • Since Nourish Toddler is sold sealed it makes airplane travel extremely easy. As soon as TSA sees that it is sealed there is no testing and no drama.
  • It is also great for amusement parks, stadiums etc., basically anywhere were they insist that bottles must be sealed.
  • This product is also great item for emergency kit(s).

I know as a society we have made great efforts to convince people to forgo the plastic water bottle and use a reusable container. I am not suggesting we only have our children drink bottle water but as a back-up plan this product has definitely made my life easier, especially when traveling.

Full Discloser: Nourish was kind enough to provide me with a few samples for my trip but the opinion represented here are my own.

Organic Baby Food by Ella’s Kitchen

Until this past trip to Arizona for Spring Training I had been making all of Ivey’s baby food. This has not only saved us money but it allowed me control over the quality of ingredients. I have been dabbling with an organic diet for the last 10 years but it took the birth of my daughter to make it a family habit.

This trip was our first since Ivey started on solids and I had been struggling with how to transport homemade baby food through the heat in Arizona without it spoiling. Lucking during the planning process I was contacted by Ella’s Kitchen and asked to try their organic baby food products. This felt like kismet so I took them up on their offer.

foodElla’s Kitchen organic baby food has no added sugar, salt or even water to dilute its goodness. It does not contain any preservatives or thickeners. It purely 100% yummy USDA organic fruits and vegetables with a little organic lemon juice to maintain its freshness. I tried it myself and I think it tastes great both warm or cold. The resealable pouch makes it easy to use while out and about and instead of pouring it in a bowl you can just squeeze a little directly on a spoon for easy feeding.

Bottom line: I am not only impressed with the quality of the ingredients but the cleaver packaging is extremely travel friendly. I will be continuing to purchase and use Ella’s Kitchen as a healthy option for times when homemade baby food just isn’t possible.
