Linden Estelle turned six months old today. I can’t believe how fast time is flying. To ensure I remember all these special moments I will be taking a “birthday” picture every month for her first 24 months as well as charting her developments.

Summary of Linden’s development this past month:

Sings, jabbers and will combines syllables especially when she is watching her daddy play guitar

Will experience stranger anxiety, and lights up when she sees the faces of her mom, dad, and nanny

Will pinch things with thumb-finger pincer grasp

Will bang two items together while holding one item in each hand

Rolls over while on her front or back

Will lunge forward and backwards while in a crawling position

Will pull herself up from a sitting to a standing position

Is still breastfeeding during the evenings and weekends

Is a good eater (solids) but is starting to show less and less interest in drinking from a bottle

Continues to only have two teeth

In the last month Linden has eaten the following organic solids: Apples, Peas, Butternut Squash, Avocado, Banana, Brown Rice Cereal and select items from Ella’s Kitchen.

Linden Estelle turned six months old today. I can’t believe how fast time is flying. To ensure I remember all these special moments I will be taking a “birthday” picture every month for her first 24 months as well as charting her developments.

Ivey might no longer need to eat baby food but that doesn't seem to stop her from eating her favorite items from Ella's Kitchen.

Ivey might no longer need to eat baby food but that doesn’t seem to stop her from eating her favorite items from Ella’s Kitchen.

For example, last night while we were hanging out with our neighbors, one of the kids happened to leave their sweet potatoes, pumpkin, apple, blueberries briefly unattended – next thing I knew Ivey was helping herself to it (see picture above).

Recently they added a few new favors to their assortment and they were kind enough to send us samples of the following:

Spinach, Apples and Rutabaga

Butternut Squash, Carrots, Apples, and Prunes

The Green One

The Purple One

There is just something about the quality of the ingredients and the convenience of the packaging that makes Ella’s Kitchen something both Ivey and I can agree on. They taste so great that I find myself eating them as well. They are the perfect dose of healthy organic fruits and veggies! The packaging is perfect for when you running out the door plus they are MUCH better for you than a nasty V8.

This trip was our first since Ivey started on solids and I had been struggling with how to transport homemade baby food through the heat in Arizona without it spoiling.

Until this past trip to Arizona for Spring Training I had been making all of Ivey’s baby food. This has not only saved us money but it allowed me control over the quality of ingredients. I have been dabbling with an organic diet for the last 10 years but it took the birth of my daughter to make it a family habit.

This trip was our first since Ivey started on solids and I had been struggling with how to transport homemade baby food through the heat in Arizona without it spoiling. Lucking during the planning process I was contacted by Ella’s Kitchen and asked to try their organic baby food products. This felt like kismet so I took them up on their offer.

Ella’s Kitchen organic baby food has no added sugar, salt or even water to dilute its goodness. It does not contain any preservatives or thickeners. It purely 100% yummy USDA organic fruits and vegetables with a little organic lemon juice to maintain its freshness. I tried it myself and I think it tastes great both warm or cold. The resealable pouch makes it easy to use while out and about and instead of pouring it in a bowl you can just squeeze a little directly on a spoon for easy feeding.

Bottom line: I am not only impressed with the quality of the ingredients but the cleaver packaging is extremely travel friendly. I will be continuing to purchase and use Ella’s Kitchen as a healthy option for times when homemade baby food just isn’t possible.

This was going to be the first time we had traveled since Ivey started on solids and all of the sudden she didn’t seem as portable as when she was purely on the boob.

Last week we headed down to take in a little spring training and bask in the balmy yet beautiful Arizona weather. It was going to be a quick trip and I didn’t want to deal with checking luggage. During the planning process I was concerned with three things, the heat, the sun and the lack of refrigeration to keep my homemade baby food from spoiling.

This was going to be the first time we had traveled since Ivey started on solids and all of the sudden she didn’t seem as portable as when she was purely on the boob. Luckily with a little research I found three products that settled my concerns.

Nourish Spill-Proof Bottled Water
Using these spill-proof bottles of water with a sippy top I was able to quickly navigate through security without any hassle. They were not only great for the airport but once at the ball park Ivey was able to sip the water and stay hydrated.

Sweet P’s – Organic Jojoba Sun Block
I was fearful that the whole family would be burnt to a crisp after a day in the Arizona sun. Luckily this organic sun block kept us all protected and gave me peace of mind since it doesn’t contain any of the chemicals found in other sun blocks.

Organic Baby Food from Ella’s Kitchen
Up until this trip I had been making all of Ivey’s baby food. This has not only saved us money but it allowed me control over the quality of ingredients. When I came across the organic baby food from Ella’s Kitchen I was not only impressed with the quality of the ingredients but the the cleaver packaging was extremely travel friendly.

Full Discloser: Nourish and Ella’s Kitchen was kind enough to provide me with a few samples for this trip but I will continue to purchase these products as I travel in the future.
